LIGHT SCULPTING
Tel Aviv central station
Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
2016
The Tel-Aviv central bus station has been a harsh place that influence itself and its surrounding areas.
This concrete monster is now being sculpted to become a new urban park, trade, business & culture canter. All in the effort to bring it back to being a connector of people and cultures; An essential feature that has been lost for decades.
ANALYSIS
Tools

In order to understand the complex urban situation around the station and the building itself, a set of documents were made - revealing the depth of the problem & starts to suggest a possible action.

After the removal of the "dead" areas of the complex and leaving the exposed concrete columns and beams - it is time to imagine what content it is possible to cast into it, and explore the design possibilities at hand.

CONCEPT
DESIGN

A new trade & market center in southern Tel Aviv.
With the buses away and a new facade reachable from all directions, this complex keeps the old trade businesses and make many new ones. A walk through open market connect the two far ends of the complex all covered with a new modern facade design connected to the traditional construction principals of the original building.
